BattleBot Arena Hazards

One of the most essential things that are used in BattleBots strategy involves using the arena hazards to one' s advantage. These hazards can easily pop up at any time of a match, and this makes matches especially challenging and ones in which all competitors will have to work with. There are six different BattleBot arena hazards to watch for in a match, and they are all essential to use for BattleBots strategy.

Spike strips are common hazards to watch for. These are long strands of foot long spikes that are placed at the walls of the BattleBots arena. In many cases a robot can easily get stuck into the spikes if its competitor is able to shove it into the spikes.

Screws are also dangerous parts of the arena that are on the walls. These screws are augers that rotate and are on the edges of the arena. These can be used to pick up a robot and throw it around the arena. Recent upgrades to these screws have made them capable of getting through armor, thus adding to the BattleBot strategy in terms of designing the robot.

Spinners do not damage robots but they can be disruptive. Spinners are discs on the arena floors that can force the robot to be flung about the arena if it gets into contact with the spinner. Lighter robots are more likely to be impacted by spinners.

Ramrods are used as common hazards in BattleBots fighting. Ramrods are steel spikes that can come out of the floor of the arena. These hazards can either move a robot off the ground and throw it to a different part of the arena or it can damage the lower part of the robot. What makes this essential for BattleBots strategy is that the robot design needs to be able to have enough protection on the lower parts so that it will not be damaged as easily by ramrods.

Kill saws are among the most dangerous of BattleBot arena hazards. These are circular saws that can come out of the floor at any time a robot moves over red slots that the saws are located in. The tires of the robot can be especially damaged and smaller robots can be susceptible to especially high levels of damage or at least to shove them around the arenas. It helps for competitors to see where these red slots are on an arena so that competitors can control their robots with better ideas of where these are.

The last of the hazards is the pulverizer. It is a mallet that weighs 150 pounds and will damage any robots that go under it. This is used in all major competitions, including for those involving smaller robots that the pulverizer will outweigh.

These are all BattleBot arena hazards to watch for in a match. These hazards are all not only dangerous but also important for competitors to see for figuring out BattleBots strategy methods.
